Chapter 1: The Work of Film
Production
This is chapter is just to give you some notion of how a film is produced.
I won't test you on the machinery
or the terms, except the following :
-
What is involved in the three stages of film production respectively:
'Preproduction', 'Shooting', and 'Postproduction'?
-
The nature of work of these roles: 'director', 'producer', 'production
designer', 'script supervisor', 'first assistant director'
-
The meaning of these terms: 'treatment', 'shooting script', 'optical
sound', 'spotting', 'dailies or rushes', 'answer print', 'vertical integration',
'aspect ratio'
You may ignore the debates on the author. Just remember that nowadays we
use the director's name as the representative of the collective effort
of the whole production team of a film
